Booster membership drive begins | News | metteradvertiser.com - Metter Advertiser

The annual Metter Athletic Booster Club campaign is getting underway for the 2020-2021 school year.

The fund drive is held each year to support student athletics. Membership gives families, businesses and individuals a way to show their support of Tiger sports.

Booster membership is also a great bargain for Metter High and Metter Middle School athletic events.

Where does the money go?

The Booster Club uses its proceeds to fund equally all of the athletic programs at Metter High and Metter Middle School. These funds benefit football, cheerleading, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, softball, wrestling, cross country, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, boys’ track, girls’ track, golf, baseball, tennis and weight room.

No other funds for athletics

Without the boosters, the sports programs have to rely primarily on their gate receipts for funding. Many of those sports have little to no gate receipts, although these non-revenue sports also have expenses.

No local or state tax dollars are allotted for sports, and with no booster funding, the schools would have to look at student fees to fund the sports.

The Drive

The entire community is invited to step forward and join the Metter Booster Club.

Membership forms for corporate memberships and family/individual memberships can be found in this week’s paper or can be downloaded at metteradvertiser.com or metter.org.

To learn more, email metterboosters@metter.org or call 912-687-0176.

Member benefits

Corporate memberships are at four levels: Platinum Paw, $2500 and up; Gold Paw, $1,000 to $2499; Silver Paw, $500-$999; and Bronze Paw, $250-$499.

Each level comes with All Sport Season passes (amount based on membership level); booster tailgating events; listing in the football program and on the special booster board; booster decals; and booster polo shirts and t-shirts (amount based on membership level).

Silver Paw, Gold Paw and Platinum Paw members also receive VIP Booster Parking passes, which were introduced last year.

Boosters also enjoy tailgating events at the new pavilion which was constructed last year on the south end of the field.

There are two levels of Family/Individual memberships: Ultimate Tiger ($150 and up) and Tiger Booster ($50-$149).

Members at both levels receive a booster t-shirt and decal, listing in the football program and invitations to booster tailgating events.

Ultimate Tigers also receive an All Sport Season Pass.

Who’s running the show?

Officers for the upcoming year are Scott Glanton, president; Brian Tootle, treasurer; Lisa Longgrear, secretary; and Vicki Bowen, MHS and MMS athletic director.
