LSU bans Browns’ Odell Beckham for 2 years as penalty for booster payments - NJ.com

Only Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham could be hit with a college ban ... six years after leaving school.

Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reports “LSU is self imposing penalties for FB violations connected to booster payments, including reduction in 8 scholarships, sources tell @SINow. School banning Odell Beckham Jr. from its facilities for 2 yrs for handing out cash.”

In case you forgot, Beckham was on the LSU sideline and in the locker room following the Tigers' 42-25 win over Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Beckham was caught on video handing what appeared to be a stack of bills to wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin following the game.

At the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind. the following month, Jefferson admitted that Beckham really did give him cash. “We knew he shouldn’t have done it,” according to Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Les Bowen, per TMZ. “It was in the heat of the moment.”

LSU’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow told Barstool Sports podcast ‘Pardon My Take’ that Beckham gave him real money as well.

Beckham also landed in trouble for slapping a police officer on the butt in the locker room after the game.

The cop whom Beckham smacked on the butt was reportedly so angry about the incident that he wanted to punch Beckham.

An arrest warrant was issued for Beckham, but the officer decided he did not want to press charges.
