NUTLEY, NJ - Continuing a time-honored tradition, the Nutley Academic Booster (ABC) hosted a kid's presidential election at the Nutley Farmers Market Sunday Oct. 25.
91 students visited the market on Sunday to make their voices heard, another six kids mailed their ballots to the ABC.
Ballots were received from Nutley students who attend each of the township's seven public schools, as well as 15 students who attend school out of district. Two students did not identify their school.
The break-out of voters is:
22 from Yantacaw
18 from Radcliffe
11 from Washington
4 from Lincoln
11 from Spring Garden
6 from John H. Walker Middle School
6 from Nutley High School
One the ballots were tabulated at the end of the market, the results were made public:
Joseph Biden: 73 votes (77%)
Donald Trump: 22 votes (23%)
Tricia McKinney, president of the Nutley Academic Booster Club thanked the community, parents, and especially the kids for participating.
The ABC supports academic achievement in the township and receives no public funds. The organization is best know for hosting the Poetry Festival, the Science Fair, and the History Fair.
