"Some people are having a little more of the fatigue or the weakness, some headache, shakes and chills," Dr. Margaret Crossman with Halifax Health Medical Center said.Crossman said the second-dose symptoms are not unexpected because a booster wakes up the immune system, building what is needed to protect people from COVID-19.Crossman said more severe reactions are rare but after the second dose, some people feel very tired, even flu-like. She suggests people build in some downtime. Doctors say that the first vaccine shot gives people around 50% immunity, while the second shot will bring that number to around 90%.
